A public insurance adjuster with nearly two decades of experience, William Welsome serves as director of operations for Atlas Adjusting, Inc., in Modesto, California. Outside of the office, William Welsome dedicates his time and resources to several organizations, including the American Red Cross.

American Red Cross volunteers from across the country have been working in Texas recently to provide shelter, food, and relief supplies for individuals and families who have been affected by widespread flooding throughout the state. Flooding and severe weather in March and April of 2016 had already damaged or destroyed thousands of homes and businesses in the region, and a new round of flooding in late May and early June has caused several deaths and forced many more Texans out of their homes.

The Red Cross is responding to the disaster as part of its disaster relief program, which helps people prepare for and recover from all types of disasters, including floods, wildfires and home fires, tornadoes, and hurricanes. Each year, the organization responds to more than 65,000 disasters by providing overnight shelters, meals, medical assistance, and other services.
